Ambourne House is a small family run nursery, located in South Gloucestershire and very close to Bristol. The nursery has been providing high quality childcare since 1991 and the emphasis has always been placed upon the security, happiness, education and the individual needs of each child.
The Ambourne House team decided that they needed a better tool for communicating with a number of audiences, to help with new client attraction and also ongoing communications with the parents of the children already in their care. They realised that the website was the best means to do this, but also accepted that their current site was not going to be able to support their plans.
Understandably time limited, the Ambourne House team needed a solution which would be simple and quick to update, with a really intuitive content management system. In addition to this it needed to provide a structure which would allow them to easily update images and gallery photos as these were proven to be one of the most popular aspects looked at by prospective clients.
Starting with a step back, we worked with the client to identify potential audiences, prioritise them and work out pain points, in order to be able to build a website that was user friendly, informative and outcome driven, rather than a “tell what you sell” site. The project provided a good opportunity to refresh the look and feel of the Ambourne House brand styling. The logo remained untouched, however the use of bright, friendly and engaging fonts and image styles immediately added a new dimension to the website experience.
Taking a realistic view of the degree of CMS required by the team, we selected Kirby for the CMS as this provided the basic levels of editing that the client needed with a clean and simple interface.
Able to pick the functionality up quickly, the Ambourne House team were able to update basic content and images, add new pages, upload to the gallery and also post noticeboard bulletins to draw attention to particular activities or information pieces. The website also allows them to update the menu information so that parents and prospects can see the healthy approach to mealtimes that the nursery adheres to.
The Ambourne House team now have a website which works with their daily activities – and which requires very little management, giving them even more time to spend with the children in their care. See more at http://www.ahdn.co.uk
